Proof of God or Christ without a holy book
by Awen inin some previous posts i have asked certain questions that still haven't been answered.
so without going back to those threads and possibly de-railing them i thought it best to make a new topic.
please bear with me.. i have asked certain ones to prove the existence of god or christ without referencing any biblical writings or characters.

JW's do not have good people skills. We have to relearn them or learn for the first time when we come out, how to interact without that fear and the superiority we had as JW's.
This is very true FlyingHighNow
When I left the Jehovah's Witnesses, c oming to terms with the reality of so many wasted years and learning to live outside the organization and accept as worthwhile, people who I had previously condemned, was a long hard climb. Even so, I will never forget the friends and relatives whose affection I lost, along with the feeling of safety that belonging to the Watchtower Society's world brought me.
All my life I had been promised that I would never grow old and die but would live forever on earth, when it was turned into a paradise. Then I realized that I was going to grow old and die like every other human.

FlyingHighNow That’s an interesting viewpoint based on your life’s experience. For most of my life I did believe in God. Bring raised by strict parents as a Jehovah's Witness, God to me was Jehovah. I believed in him, talked to him, worshiped him and became a Pioneer.
As I grew into an adult I began to examine the evidence. It was found wanting. I left the Watchtower Society and searched for a more loving God. I found much of what I sought in eastern religion. Alas still no proof. I lacked the one thing that was required – total faith.
There are many like me who did once believe but no longer do. We had something up there but no longer do. We are prepared to believe again but live by that telling adage. "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me!"

Discussions like this often come down to our own idea of what god is. Like many others I don’t have faith in Jehovah, Christ, Jaheshua, Allah, Zeus, Odin or any of the named gods. No one can offer objective proof that these gods exist or that they don’t exist. It comes down to whether we want to believe in the existence of one of them and consider our choice to be ‘almighty God.’ Such a conclusion can only be based on our interpretation of our own subjective internal experiences. Acceptance of experiences that others share is also a factor. The result is faith in God.
Those that choose not to believe in any of the gods on offer are not automatically staunch atheists. Nor does it mean they have concluded that humans are the only intelligent life in the universe.
On a probability basis it is likely that there are other forms of life on other planets which those creatures are suited to. Maybe there are beings that are invisible to the human eye that do not need the surface of a planet to dwell on. Perhaps other dimensions of consciousness do exist beyond our present knowledge and an ultimate source.
If we are to be objective, until these things and the existence of a god can be proved beyond doubt, the concept of an all powerful invisible being must remain a theory or a possibility. As a mere mortal, air breathing, earth dwelling, carbon unit , I am content to accept my limitations and continue on my spiritual journey with an open mind, knowing that my time on earth will run out without ever knowing the secrets of the universe.

Which arguments for or against God are convincing to you?
by mankkeli in1) kalam argument -- what begins to exist has a cause, the universe began to exist, therefore the universe has a cause2) the design or fine tuning argument -- the regularity of the universe suggests the existence of an intelligent creator3) the ontological argument 4) its impossible for "something" to come from "nothing"5) the argument from morality.
a moral law giver must exist6) the argument from experience.
the proof is in the pudding.

what has the watchtower society done to benefit mankind?
by bigmac inwhat i mean is---has the wts/jw's/ibsa-- or whatever organisation or legality they hide behind---ever done to really benefit some sector of humanity on a practical basis?---.
it must be me--but i really cannot see some poor person--starving in a third world famine--regarding the chance of a free home bible study as high on their list of priorities..

The Watchtower Society has given hope to millions of people. Ok! They didn’t deliver on their promises and screwed up a lot of lives but giving hope is what religion is all about.
Their mistake was to foolishly promise that their members would never grow old and die! Most churches teach that the payout or reward comes after death. Sneaky, because dead people don't talk or complain on web sites. Once t he Watchtower Society catches on and offers an invisible reward, they will have a sound business plan.

I did once meet an all powerful being who had complete control over my life and acted as though he was entitled to a share of everything I had or was about to acquire. I knelt to worship this great god but he told me to stand up and write out a cheque or check as you yanks say. He turned out to be the a tax man!

18) Why doesn't God heal amputees?
"To figure out how we might be able to reignite that genetic potential for limb regeneration, researchers are starting small -- with mice. But they aren't having to work entirely from scratch to track down how an organism could regrow something. They're looking to the salamander as their model.
Salamanders are part of the amphibian family, members of which are cold-blooded and have an additional skin covering of feathers or fur. Different species of salamanders are either terrestrial or aquatic and are the only amphibians with tails. In case they lose that precious tail, salamanders can grow it back. They're the highest order of animals capable of regenerating body parts, including their tails, upper and lower jaws, eyes and hearts."
So there you have it. Humans are not as blessed by god as salamanders! -

What is truth?
by mankkeli inand i dont want to see the dictionary definition of the word, as the word is merely a label, and the definition is merely a description of the word.. .
i want to discuss the concept of truth, as there is alot hiding behind the mere label.. .
to start off with, is truth merely when we come to agreement, and stop questioning?

THE GLADIATOR
Pardon my intrusion AGuest but what I said was:
"Once we think we posses the truth, we close our minds to other possibilities. In that moment we lose our connection with the infinite."
That one small word changes everything.
Peace to you.

It seems to me that the point still thinking was expressing is that some people do not have the opportunity to search for truth. Their life is often short and predefined. This is an Interesting point because truth is what we actually live.
What happens whether on earth or in outer space is real it is truth. Most of what happens throughout the universe is still a mystery to us. We observe as best we can and consider the observations and conclusions that others have reached.
Pondering the whys and wherefores is possible because most people can now read and write and have the means to analyze their existence. It sometimes seems that language is not an adequate tool for understanding deeper truth. Mathematics comes closer but some things are not quantifiable.
Truth is not a rigid set of beliefs. Once we think we posses the truth, we close our minds to other possibilities. In that moment we lose our connection with the infinite.
